• CBD (Cortico Basal Degeneration) is a very rare illness, similar to Parkinson’s disease but far more aggressive. The loss of Thelma broke his heart and the illness soon took its hold. One of his requests was that he did not want to go into a care home or hospital and all credit must go to Vanessa and Rowdie who ensured this did not happen. He received the very best of care and thanks must go to all those involved. • Robin knew exactly what was going on around him but unfortunately he was soon not able to communicate and you could see this was very frustrating for him. There was nothing we could do which was heart-breaking apart from making him as comfortable as possible and trying to keep life as normal as possible. Special thanks must go to Terry and Ann who once a week without fail would have him round for tea until it became not possible, this meant a great deal to him. • He eventually lost his fight on Saturday evening 02/02/13 with his Granddaughter, Kayleigh by his side. I visited him the night before and I must admit that when I heard the news the following day from my Father that he had passed away there was a sense of relief that at long last he had been released from this horrible illness. • He is in safe hands now and I am sure that Thelma has taken charge and will look after him. • Another request that Robin made whilst he was still able to, was that upon his death he wanted his Brain to be donated for medical science for further research into this rare illness. This is typical of Robin who always put others before him and we can take some comfort in the fact that by doing this he is helping others who might unfortunately fall victim to this illness. • Robin met many people during his life and everyone who came into contact with him either through work or socially have never had a bad word to say against him. He would always welcome people into his home, no matter who they were and Vanessa and Rowdie certainly brought back some interesting friends and boyfriends in their younger days. He had a dry sense of humour and was very sharp and witty. He will be missed by all and i know my Father will certainly miss his Sunday Morning phone conversations with his big Brother when they would discuss their horse racing and generally wind each other up. Robin may have been a very intelligent person but he never spoke down to anybody and always had time to listen and give advice when necessary, always putting people at their ease. All of you here today I am sure will agree with that and I on behalf of the Family would like to thank you all for coming and supporting us today. He will certainly not be forgotten.
