• Vanessa arrived on the scene in 1967 and Rowena in 1969. Robin was a devoted Family man. Birthdays, holidays, picking the girls up from parties etc. he was always there. As Thelma put it, he was the Gopher of the Family. • As like any normal families, every so often there would be a crisis that would have to be sorted out and resolved. More often than not this would involve Vanessa and Rowdie somewhere along the line. True to form (7-1 on as the bookies would say), any such incident would be met with an outburst from Thelma but Robin would always remain cool, calm and collective no matter what disaster lay before him. • 1 such disaster involved Rowdie reversing her car into the Cedar room. Rowdie was learning to drive at the time and had a little Fiat 126 which was in the back garden. She was proudly showing off to friends who were in the car with her when she slammed her foot on the accelerator forgetting that the gear stick was in reverse and crashed through the Cedar room ending up in the middle of the floor, completely demolishing 1 side of the Cedar room. Yes Robin was not happy but kept his cool and after a bit of a moan he asked Rowdie to drive the car back out into the garden. Thelma was not so calm. No matter if it is work or family life, when there is a crisis you need somebody calm at the helm and Robin was this person. He was always there to steady the ship.
